Black Headed Caique for Sale

Baby Black Headed Caique for Sale

The Black Headed Caique for Sale is one of the most colorful birds in the parrot family and has a fun, playful personality. They are friendly, outgoing, and affectionate, and they enjoy showing off their personality. A notable feature of the Caique is its white chest and belly, which are fluffy and resemble a ruffled shirt. This is where the name “Caique” came from, as it refers to a fancy white shirt with a ruffled front.

Social Behaviors of the Black Headed Caique

Black Headed Caiques enjoy spending time with people and other birds. They are active and enjoy interacting with others, whether it’s with you or with another companion. However, even though they are affectionate, they can become grumpy, nippy, and aggressive toward other birds.

Housing: Bird Houses
Bird Cages: A good bird cage should give your Caique plenty of space to move around and have perches, food dishes, and toys. A minimum size for a Caique is a cage that is 24 inches wide, 24 inches high, and 24 inches long (about 60 x 60 x 60 cm). The bigger the cage, the better. Also, horizontal bars on the sides can be helpful as they like to climb.

Bird Perch:

Provide two perches that are between 3/4 inch and 1 inch in diameter (about 2 to 2.5 cm).
Place one perch high for roosting and another close to the food and water dishes. Caiques enjoy chewing and will nibble on perches. Natural perches made from willow, poplar, or fruit trees are good for their feet and beaks. Place the cage in an area away from harmful fumes or drafts. For your bird’s security, you can cover the cage at night.

Playpen and Bird Toys:

A playpen is a great option for this. Include climbing ropes, chains, bells, parrot swings, and wooden or other bird toys to keep your bird entertained.

Aviary:

It should be at least 59 inches to 79 inches (about 1.5 to 2 meters) high and have a floor space of 39 inches by 39 inches (about 1 meter by 1 meter). Include an attached flight area that is 79 inches to 118 inches (about 2 to 3 meters) long, with perches at each end. Adding a climbing branch and a bird bath can also be nice.

Handling and Training

The Black Headed Caique (for Sale) is intelligent, gentle, and very attractive.
They enjoy learning new things and then showing them off, but they also have a strong will. To build trust and establish leadership, you will need to be firm during training. If raised properly, Caiques can be wonderful companions.

Taming Basics:

To handle and train your parrot, you must first build trust. Be patient and consistent. Caiques, like other parrots, respond well to training in the evening, and also when you are entering or leaving the room.

Initial Training:

The first step is to get the parrot to accept a treat from you, which will make it more willing to allow you to gently scratch its head. Once your bird trusts you and you can pet its head, you can start working on getting it to step up on your hand. Depending on how tame the bird is, these steps can be quick, especially with a handfed baby, or take several weeks or more with an untamed bird.

Advanced Training:

Repetition and consistency are key in training. Most parrots can learn at least a few words or sounds, and Caiques are especially good at mimicking environmental noises rather than human speech. Remember, training and taming a parrot takes patience. Never punish your bird, as this can damage the trust you’ve built.

Vocalizations

Caiques are not as loud as cockatoos, but they are not quiet either. They make a moderate amount of noise, which can be annoying to more sensitive neighbors. A skilled Caique can engage in some level of conversation, but their mimicry is not as advanced as that of other vocal parrots. Their sounds include trills, song-like noises, and toots. Kleeek calls are part of the mating process.

Thank you so much jessica for our new family member. He is healthy, happy and very loving. The time you spent hand raising him is evident as he is very gentle and sweet. He is quickly developing relationships with all our kids and Lab Dog “Zeus” although the cat may have ulterior motives. We are looking forward to watching him develop.

I bought my Black Headed Caique from Pet bird breeders and I was more happy with how they handled their birds. I would absolutely buy from them again next time.
