Baby Harlequin Macaw for sale

Harlequin Macaw for sale This bird is only bred in captivity, so it is very rare to see harlequin macaws in the wild. It is known as a first-generation hybrid because it comes from two distinct species of macaw—the blue and gold macaw and the greenwing macaw. The harlequin is also used in breeding with other true and hybrid macaws to create second-generation hybrids.

Some of the most common macaws that carry the harlequin’s genes include:

(1) Fiesta macaw: Produced by crossing a Camelot macaw with a harlequin
(2) Harligold macaw: Produced by crossing a blue and gold macaw with a harlequin
(3) Harlequin x shamrock macaw: Produced by crossing a harlequin with a shamrock macaw (hybrid)
(4) Jubilee macaw: Produced by crossing a greenwing macaw with a harlequin
(5) Maui sunrise macaw: Produced by crossing a Catalina macaw (hybrid) with a harlequin
(6) Quatro macaw: Produced by crossing a ruby macaw (hybrid) with a harlequin
(7) Tropicana macaw: Produced by crossing a scarlet macaw with a harlequin

Temperament & personality

They’re additionally trainable and can be self-taught to do hints, and they mimic human speech and different sounds it hears.

Feeding of harlequin macaw

Macaws are high-energy birds that require foods rich in fats and calories. In the wild, they eat a variety of palm fruits, seeds, and berries. Harlequin macaws should be fed a quality seed and pellet mix, along with daily servings of fresh, bird-safe fruits and vegetables. Depending on their size, each bird typically eats about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of parrot mix and the same amount of fruits and vegetables per day. Fresh water should be available every day.

Physical Description

Some breeders say the coloring of a Harlequin Macaw depends primarily on Whether a Blue and Gold or a Greenwing-Macaw was the male parent is debatable. Most Harlequins are mainly deep orange on their chests and bellies, with striking tones of green and blue on their backs. In addition, many of them have gold feathers on the underside of their tail feathers.

Trainability

While harlequin macaw will have moments of frustration like any other parrot, they are a good choice for those who want a large bird with an even temper and calm demeanor.

Intensity

If you don’t want your parrots to awaken you early every morning by screaming at the top of their lungs, you should consider something like the Cockatiel parrot other than a macaw as a pet. Stainless steel cages are necessary due to their excellent spout strength.
