Umbrella cockatoos are mostly white with a prominent white crest. This distinctive feature helps identify them from other Moluccan Cockatoo. A raised crest may also indicate that the bird is about to bite if approached. The underside of their wings and tail feathers has a pale yellow color, which is especially noticeable when they are in flight.

Males and females are similar in color, but males are usually larger and have broader heads and bigger beaks. They have black beaks and gray or black feet, and some have a slight blue tint around the eyes. Males typically have dark brown eyes that appear almost black, while adult females usually have reddish-brown eyes.

Diet and Nutrition

As pets, about 80% of their diet should consist of a formulated pelleted diet. The remaining 20% should include a variety of vegetables, such as leafy greens and root vegetables.
