Baby Alexandrine Parakeet for Sale

Alexandrine Parakeet for Sale This species is originally from India and Sri Lanka.

Temperament

Tame and hand-fed Alexandrine parakeets are affectionate and loving pets.
However, they often form strong bonds with one person in the household and may become distant with others.

Like other parakeets from Asia, many Alexandrine parakeets experience a stage of hormonal aggression during their early years, which can last between two weeks to two years.
This phase can be difficult for new bird owners to manage.

With proper socialization and a consistent approach to bonding, these parakeets typically adjust well to their new environment and enjoy interacting with their owners.

Speech and Vocalizations

Alexandrine parakeets can be quite loud and noisy, making them unsuitable for people living close to neighbors. Their vocalizations carry far in the wild, which can be a challenge in small living spaces like apartments or condos.

These birds have a strong ability to imitate human speech clearly.
They produce a variety of sounds, including ringing noises, loud and deep “klak” calls, and a distinct “gr-aak” sound. Their calls are deeper than those of the Indian ringneck parakeet, and their alarm calls are louder.

Alexandrine Parakeet Colors and Markings

Alexandrine parakeets are slender birds with a body length of about 25 inches, much of which is due to their long, elegant tail feathers.
They are slightly more robust than Indian Ringneck parakeets.

The coloration of this species is mostly green, with blue-gray cheeks and the back of the neck, a yellow-green belly, and a red patch on the shoulders. The underside of their tail is yellow, while the top is green and blue, with a yellow tip.

Adult males have a black and pink ring around their neck, while females do not have this feature.

Caring for an Alexandrine Parakeet

Alexandrine parakeets are beautiful, intelligent, and capable of talking, so they require a lot of care and attention. These birds can be great companions for decades.

A minimum cage size should be at least 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide.

These birds enjoy bathing and playing in water.
A large water bath should be provided at least once a week, and misting can also be beneficial.

Common Health Problems

Alexandrine parakeets are generally healthy, but they are vulnerable to a few diseases:

(1) Polyomavirus: A fatal virus, most dangerous to young birds

Diet and Nutrition

Fresh vegetables are an essential part of their diet.

Feed your bird 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pellets and 1/4 to 1/2 cup of fruits and vegetables daily, adjusting based on your bird’s appetite.
Remove any uneaten food to prevent spoilage.

Exercise

Alexandrine parakeets are very active and need a lot of physical activity to stay healthy.
These birds require at least 3 to 4 hours of time outside their cage each day for stretching, playing, and exercise in a secure, bird-proof area.

They were amazing! We got a Alexandrine Parakeet from them. They did a great set up for the shipping process, including a no spill water dish, seeds, orange and apple. The baby could see light from the privacy windows, and get fresh air, but people outside were unable to see in.

Hello Reyes Delarosa, Did you end up getting one from them? I just got a Alexandrine Parakeet from them and she arrived three days ago. I also got lovebirds from them in January with no issues. My Alexandrine Parakeet is super sweet, friendly, and eats out of my hand. She arrived super fast.
