Pionus Blue Headed Pionus for Sale

Blue Headed Pionus for Sale, the wild Blue Headed Pionus is native to the tropical regions of Costa Rica, Central America, and South America.

Size

When fully grown, they typically measure up to 12 inches from beak to tail like the Cockatiels. They have a sturdy uild similar to other Pionus species, and adult birds usually weigh between 8 to 9 ounces when in good health.

Temperament

They enjoy spending time with their human families, playing games, and engaging with bird toys. Many owners describe them as having gentle, easygoing personalities and note that they rarely bite, although they are capable of doing so if they feel threatened.

Colors

The rest of the body is a vibrant green, with some bronze tones on the upper wing areas. Their cheeks have dark, dusty-colored circles, and their tails feature red feathers on the underside. All Pionus parrots have a red patch on the upper part of their beak, which is another distinguishing feature.

Exercise

Blue Headed Pionus parrots are very active and need plenty of space to move around and play.
Potential owners should plan for at least 3 to 4 hours of time each day for out-of-cage play.

Blue Headed Pionus as Pets

The Blue Headed Pionus is a beautiful and loving pet that has been popular for many years.
While they are charming and affectionate, they are not suitable for every household.

Feeding

Proper nutrition is essential for the Blue Headed Pionus. These foods should be paired with a variety of fresh, bird-safe fruits and vegetables to ensure a balanced intake of vitamins. Blue-headed Pionus parrots require a diet high in vitamin A, consisting of 50-60% high-quality pellets, supplemented daily with fresh vegetables (leafy greens, carrots), fruits (berries, melons, apples), and small amounts of seeds/nuts. They are prone to obesity, so avoid high-fat diets, limiting sunflower seeds and oily, fried foods.

Average Lifespan

Healthy Blue Headed Pionus birds, when well cared for in captivity, can live up to 40 years or more.

Good day I just wanted to say a big thank you for being so patient with me and helping me choose the right bird to suite me. You were extremely professional and I could tell you are very passionate about your birds. I’m very happy with my little Blue Headed Pionus. It’s only been a couple of days but his little personality not to mention his cheekiness is already showing. I was already like a proud parent yesterday, taking photos to show my family and friends. I will definitely recommend Petbirdsbreeders.com to anyone who is looking to buy a bird! In fact, I’ve already sent the link to a few people I know who already have parrots.
